Piarsaigh An Ghallbhaile Notes: Week Beginning 8th Of June 2020

Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile – at the forefront for our Community
We hope all our members are still keeping safe and well.  It has been a very strange few months, when we should be in the midst of our busy football season.  Our pitches should be packed with youth teams at training sessions/ playing matches and at weekends we should be supporting our senior men and ladies teams.  This isn’t the case at present, however the GAA announced at the weekend we will hopefully have some competitive football this year.  We hope to get more details, advice and guidance from the GAA within the next number of weeks.

Walking Track
Croke Park have issued very detailed stringent conditions which must be complied with before our walking track can be re-opened.  Even when these are put in place it will be on a limited basis with certain times reserved for particular groups.  Our committee are working hard on this but it will take some time.  We will only open when it is safe to do so and have been approved by Croke Park.  Thank you for your patience and co-operation so far.  We will keep everyone informed as soon as we are ready to go.

Fundraising 5Mile/ 5KM Walk/Run
Our fundraising 5Mile/5 km Walk/ Run will take place on Saturday 20th/Sunday 21st June.  Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile are delighted to advise that all time slots are fully booked and allocated times will not vary.   All monies raised will be divided equally between our chosen organisations:
Craigavon Area Hospial ICU Ward
Galbally Friends Fund
Southern Area Hospice
Charis Integrated Cancer Care

Virtual Scor
While the GAA have been in lockdown we started a ‘Virtual Scor’ on our club’s Facebook page, to showcase the amazing talent we have in the Galbally area.  The response has been brilliant, we have received so many videos of singers, dancers and musicians.  We only launched it over three weeks ago and we have had over 53,000 viewers watching the local talent of Galbally.  It is not too late to get involved, if you or anyone in your household would like to get involved send us your video to the club’s PRO Carla on 07928706084 or private mail the club’s Facebook page.

Club Shop Online
Items from the club shop will still be sold online, shop now on https://www.galballygac.com/shop/
There are a number of items currently on sale, (limited sizes available).  With Fathers Day on Sunday 21st June, we have a number of items that would be the perfect gift for them.  Check out our website.

Thoughts & Prayers
The club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the following families on the death of their loved ones: Eamon Rafferty, Margaret Donnelly, Edmund Quinn, Pat McAtasney, Julian Arthur and James Kerr.  May they Rest in Eternal Peace.
