Big Breakfast 2016
We are holding our Annual Club Mass on St. Patrick’s Day (Thursday 17th March) in St John the Baptist Chapel followed by our Annual Big Breakfast in Galbally Community Centre.  Our Club Mass will be at 10am and will be celebrated with Fr. McGuckin.  This will involve many members of our GAA Community taking part in the mass; reading, singing, Eucharistic ministers & music.
This will be followed by our “Big Breakfast” in Galbally Community Centre.  This is a fantastic event with plenty of food, music, dancing and entertainment and an opportunity to catch up with friends and family.  We will have performances from the Treanor & Carroll School of Irish Dancing, Sean Og’s Dancers, Local Musicians, Singers, Story Tellers & Face painting as well as a performance from the Donaghmore All-Ireland Scor na Nog Champions.  We would encourage as many of our members to attend our Mass and Big Breakfast.  Everyone is welcome.

Minor Boys
Training continues on Wednesday night at 7.15pm.  Our minors secured another victory away to Edendork on Sunday evening winning on a score line of 4-14 to 3-06. Galbally opened the scoring with a free kick nicely taken by Mark Donnelly on the right wing.  Daniel Kerr scored the next 2 points one from a free and one from play to put Galbally in the lead 0-3 to 0-1.  Mark Donnelly then kicked over a fine point in the 9th minute after turning his defender with a left footed solo dummy and striking it cleanly over the bar with his weaker foot leaving 3 points between the teams 0-4 to 0-1.  Edendork received a boost when they scored a goal from a high ball into the small square to leave the teams all level 1-01 to 0-4.  Edendork then fought hard to get back into the game scoring 3 more points and going ahead for the first time in but Galbally soon turned it around and finished the first half the strongest with points from Kieran Holland, Mark Donnelly and 3 points from Caoimhin Quinn.  Half time Score Galbally 0-09 Edendork 1-04.  Within the first minute of the second half Caoimhin Quinn opened the scoring when he converted a free kick, Mark Donnelly then scored a goal and a point to leave Galbally in the driving seat and winning by 7 points 1-11 to 1-04.  Cormaic Donnelly then made a great run after winning the ball at midfield to score a fabulous point from his left foot and on the 10th minute Darragh Traynor found space to score Galbally’s second goal leaving the score 2-13 to 1-04.  Edendork recorded their first point of the second half on the 12th minute but Galbally responded well when Daniel Kerr made a long run through the Edendork defence to score Galbally’s third goal of the game.  Edendork battled hard to get back into the game scoring a goal from a penalty and a further goal and a point from a free but Galbally held on with Caoimhin Quinn scoring a goal and 2 points bringing his personal tally to 1-06 and the final score of 4-14 to 3-06.

Under 14 (Girls)
Our U14 girls kicked off their league campaign with a hard earned win over Cappagh at Pearse Park on Sunday afternoon.  Cappagh came out of the traps stronger and dominated the first quarter of the game scoring 2-2.  Niamh Rafferty put the first point on the board for Galbally, with Rachel Kelly then finding the back of the net.  Galbally started to pick up momentum right from their solid defence line, with crucial scores coming from Niamh Rafferty and Emma McBride before the half time whistle.  Galbally worked hard in the second half to defend their lead as at times Cappagh threatened to push forward but with the solid defence line kept scores at bay. A point each from Emer Condon and Niamh Rafferty kept Galbally secure as Cappagh chipped over a point, with Niamh McElhone, Niamh Rafferty and Emma McBride finishing the scoring with goals each.  A fantastic effort from the entire team to get their first 2 points on the table.
