Piarsaigh An Ghallbhaile Notes: Week Beginning 3rd Of August

By Francis O'Neill Fri 7th Aug

Seniors
The Seniors rejoined Edendork at the top of the intermediate league table after a good win against Urney in Pearse Park last Sunday.  The boys got off to a flying start with points from Paul Rafferty, Declan Murphy and Ronan Nugent followed by a goal from Seany Murphy after good work from Daniel Kerr.  Urney fought back before the half to leave 4 points in it at half time.  Galbally came out of the blocks strongly in the second half with good points from Paul Rafferty, Kieran McCrory and co.  Damien McCrory raced through to score a great goal.  Seany Murphy then added his second goal of the day and a Fearghal McGarrity point concluded the scoring to what was a convincing win for the blues.  Final Result Galbally 3-16 Urney 2-9.

There will be NO Senior or Reserve league game this weekend.

Path Of The Pearses
The BIG weekend is nearly upon us, the excitement is starting to kick in and all the training sessions are coming to a close.  Last weekend our cyclists clocked up a lot of miles and faced some tough head winds making the cycling conditions really tough.  The cyclists have all put in a lot of time and hard work so if you could sponsor them a few pound it would really mean a lot.

Our weekend events kick off with our ‘Youth Cycle’ on Saturday the 15th August with registration at 11am.  This event will be open to all ages and abilities, there will be 10 Mile, 5 Mile and laps of the track to suit the youth of the club.  Children from P7 upwards that have passed their Road Cycling Test may be allowed out on the road on their own, children who haven’t passed their cycling test and wish to cycle on the road has to have adult supervision. Helmets are compulsory, no child will be allowed to cycle if they don’t wear a helmet.  For toddlers to younger children who aren’t cycling on the road there will be laps of the fields available for them to do.  Dress code for the youth cycle is: CLUB COLOURS.  Entry for the youth cycle is £10 per child or £20 for two or more children from the same family.

Saturday night there will be a special cycle mass in St. John’s Chapel at 7:30, we would like all cyclists taking part in the 90/50 mile cycle to attend the special mass in their cycling jerseys.

Then the BIG day will take place on Sunday 16th August, all the training has been done and it’s all about enjoying the day and completing the 90/50miles.  Once the cyclists have all returned back safely to Pearse Park, later that night we will be hosting a Steak BBQ and dancing the night away to the fantastic band ‘Whistlin Donkeys’, tickets can be bought from Tallys shop.  Tickets are priced at £15 which include the Steak BBQ and entry to the dance. Tickets for the Whistlin Donkeys are priced at £10.  This will be a fantastic weekends events where plenty of memories and stories will be made.  We hope you can all join us for our celebrations and pray next week for the rain and wind to stay away.
